Billig and günstig LitBuy finds under €10: why postage decides the price and how to share it

Last updated .

Short answer: A LitBuy spreadsheet budget row under about ¥63 costs roughly €9.95, but shipped alone to Germany it lands at €33.03 because the cheapest quoted step, 500 g on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE, was €23.08 all-in on 27 Oct 2026. Put three cheap items in one parcel and each costs about €14.28; six cost about €11.26 each. Cheap items only stay cheap when they share a box.

What "budget" means in a LitBuy sheet

For this page a budget row is an item at about ¥63 or less, which is €9.95 at LitBuy's own display rate of ¥1 ≈ €0.158 (27 Oct 2026). That rate is higher than most bank rates, so the total in your currency at checkout is what counts. The grid above goes a bit further, up to ¥80 (€12.64), because many tees and caps sit just over the line. German searchers type "billig" and "günstig" for this; cheap litbuy spreadsheets mean the same thing.

Prices in the table are hypothetical examples, not quotes from a row. Weights are planning estimates from our 27 October 2026 fact sheet, because we have not weighed any item. "Alone to Germany" adds the all-in price of the smallest LIT-Economy-DHL-DE step that fits the estimated weight; the full method is in the landed price calculator.

Cheap item types: example price, estimated weight and cost if shipped alone to Germany
Item typeExample priceItem in €Est. weightAlone to Germany
Crew socks¥20€3.160.10 kg€26.24
Phone case¥30€4.740.08 kg€27.82
Steel ring or chain¥40€6.320.10 kg€29.40
Baseball cap¥45€7.110.15 kg€30.19
Light scarf¥50€7.900.15 kg€30.98
Basic cotton tee¥60€9.480.25 kg€32.56

Anything under €10 still pays the full 500 g step when it ships alone.

Why postage dominates under €10

LitBuy charges shipping by weight band, and the lowest band it quoted for Germany was 500 g. A ¥63 item weighs an estimated 0.25 kg at most, so the item and the band do not scale together. The step costs the same for a keychain as for a tee.

Worked example: one ¥63 item shipped alone to Germany

Item: ¥63 × 0.158€9.95

500 g step, LIT-Economy-DHL-DE all-in (27 Oct 2026)€23.08

Landed in Germany, one item€33.03

Of that €33.03, about 70% is postage. For the ¥20 socks it is about 88%. The all-in price includes the tariff prepayment on EU tax-free lines; LitBuy's estimator reading is the number to trust, and a shipping coupon, if you have one, changes the picture only partly. So the question for a budget find is never "is the row cheap" but "what else is going in the box".

The item is the small part of a budget order; the box is the big part.

Euro per item for 1, 3 and 6 cheap items in one parcel

Sharing a parcel spreads the same step over more pieces. The three scenarios below use hypothetical prices and our estimated weights: a ¥60 tee (0.25 kg), a ¥45 cap (0.15 kg), ¥20 socks (0.10 kg), a ¥30 phone case (0.08 kg), and a second tee and pair of socks.

Cheap items per parcel: Germany, LIT-Economy-DHL-DE all-in, 27 Oct 2026
ParcelItemsItem totalEst. weightStepParcel totalPer item
1 itemTee ¥60€9.480.25 kg€23.08€32.56€32.56
3 itemsTee ¥60, cap ¥45, socks ¥20€19.750.50 kg€23.08€42.83€14.28
6 items2 tees, cap, 2 socks, case€37.130.93 kg€30.42€67.55€11.26

The postage share per item falls from €23.08 to €7.69 with three items and to €5.07 with six, even though six items move into the 1,000 g step. Three separate parcels of the same three items would have cost €88.99 in total (€32.56 + €26.24 + €30.19), against €42.83 combined.

Six cheap items in one parcel

Items: ¥235 × 0.158€37.13

Est. 0.93 kg, so the 1,000 g step, all-in€30.42

One parcel, six items€67.55

Six items cost about a third of the per-item price of one.

Staying on the cheap side of a weight step

The three-item parcel above hits 0.50 kg exactly on estimates. Real packing adds material and real items vary, so a small overshoot moves you into the 1,000 g step, which is €7.34 more (€30.42 instead of €23.08). That is why the guide to light add-ons under 200 g shows how to count headroom, and the combine-parcels guide explains how LitBuy recalculates weight after packing and refunds or asks for the difference.

Budget rows work best as fillers for a bigger order. A pair of jeans leaves about 0.30 kg of headroom in the 1,000 g step, and caps and belts or phone cases fit in that space at almost no extra postage.

Plan the weight step first, then choose the cheap rows that fit it.

UK and US: the same pattern, different euros

For the UK, the cheapest 500 g price on FF-Royalmail-GB-1 was £11.06 and 1 kg was £16.83 (27 Oct 2026, no prepayment). At ¥1 ≈ £0.132, the ¥60 tee costs £7.92, so £18.98 alone. Three cheap items (¥125) cost £16.50 plus £11.06, which is £27.56 or £9.19 each. In the US the 500 g step on ZF-GOFO-US-1 was $25.55; the same tee is $10.62 at ¥1 ≈ $0.177, so $36.17 alone. Postage dominates there too.

The UK step is lower, the US step is higher, but the lesson is identical.

Checks that still matter on a ¥20 item

Routine QC is generally 3 to 6 photos, and extra custom photos are ¥1 each (about €0.16). For a cheap item the useful extras are the tag, the print and one measurement. LitBuy does not cover colour difference or size error, so a cheap item that arrives the wrong size still cost its share of postage. See the QC finder for where real photos come from before you buy, and the Reddit sources page for where budget lists are shared. No LitBuy account? Spend ¥1 on the one photo that settles your biggest doubt.

FAQ

What counts as a budget row on a LitBuy spreadsheet?

On this page it means a listing at about ¥63 or less, which is roughly €9.95 at LitBuy's display rate of ¥1 ≈ €0.158. The photo grid above goes a little higher, up to ¥80 or €12.64. These are item prices only; postage is added separately, and it is usually larger than the item itself for anything this cheap.

Why is shipping one cheap item to Germany so expensive?

Postage is charged by weight step, not by value. LitBuy's estimator showed €23.08 all-in for the 500 g step on LIT-Economy-DHL-DE on 27 October 2026. A pair of socks at ¥20 costs €3.16, so the same parcel is about 88% postage. One light item pays almost the same as five.

How many cheap items fit in one 500 g parcel?

As a rule of thumb from our planning weights, a tee at 0.25 kg, a cap at 0.15 kg and a pair of socks at 0.10 kg together reach exactly 0.50 kg. That fills the €23.08 step. These are estimates, and packing material is extra, so leave a small margin or expect the 1,000 g step at €30.42.

Is a cheap order worth it if it costs €33 landed?

It depends on the item. A ¥63 piece landing at €33.03 alone is worth it only if you want that one thing. Three items in one parcel land at €42.83 in total, or €14.28 each. If the add-ons are things you would buy anyway, waiting to combine them cuts the cost of each by more than half.

Can I find cheap rows for the UK or the US as well?

Yes, the maths works the same way. A hypothetical ¥60 tee at ¥1 ≈ £0.132 costs £7.92, and the 500 g step on FF-Royalmail-GB-1 was £11.06 on 27 October 2026, so £18.98 alone. For the US the same tee is $10.62 plus $25.55 on ZF-GOFO-US-1, which is $36.17. Postage dominates in both markets, so the advice to share a parcel holds.

Should I skip QC photos on a very cheap item?

Not necessarily. Routine QC photos are included, generally 3 to 6, and extra custom photos are ¥1 each, about €0.16. On a ¥20 item that is a small share of the total. Ask for one extra shot of the label or print if size or colour is the risk; LitBuy does not cover colour difference.
